Big Sandy Water Institute Making a Splash!
Big Sandy Water Institute is a summer educational, recreational program for all students age 7 and up, including children and grandchildren of summer and weekend residents of the lake. The focus is on teaching students how to enjoy and preserve local waterways through; boat and water safety, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, snorkeling, environmental education and swimming lessons.
It is sponsored by McGregor School District and the following partners: Big Sandy Lake Association, Big Sandy Lake Foundation, Big Sandy Area Lakes Watershed Management Project, McGregor ISD #4 Community Education, Savanna Portage State Park, Aitkin County Collaborative, Long Lake Conservation Center, McGregor Lions Club, The Army Corps of Engineers, and Willey's Marine.
